The truth is we aren’t going anywhere for spring break, but we can dream. We are each packing what would be in our carry-on to a SUN, SKI and CITY spot. For those of you traveling over the next 6 weeks for some sort of spring break - enjoy! We’ll be hanging back at home biting our nails waiting for school decisions. Not to be dramatic or anything…

SUN
I am craving the sun big time. But I am also actively trying to save my skin. I sound like a broken record, but I love this Skin Glow by YSE Beauty (with SPF 30) and would definitely add it to my packing list of skincare along with their eye bundle. The primer gives off a perfect subtle glow, and the brightening eye cream and patches are a game changer. I am also newly obsessed with this skincare find. These eyelet pants with this classic tee and these platform sandals would make a perfect all-white fit with a fresh tan - oh, and I love this “lunchpail” tote to top it off! I also love this easy white dress.

Along with a pareo and this beach tote (or this fun one), I would also pack these essentials: a classic black one-piece bathing suit, sunglasses, color wow (for anti-frizz in the heat), a long dress for nights (with this clutch) and a short one for the beach to lunch, and another pair of sandals. I’d throw it all in this carry-on with a travel-size cleanser, serum, moisturizer, eye patches, Westman Atelier’s newly released sun tone bronzing drops, and these Armra Colostrum travel sticks, which I have recently added to my routine. I also love this travel jewelry case to store beachy jewelry, and I’d also add lip conditioner and Bose earbuds to my bag. Finally, don’t forget the sunscreen and a packable hat! This mini-pack is fun and brings back ’90s spring break nostalgia.

If a beach vacation doesn’t require jorts , it isn’t relaxing enough for me. I like a VERY chill beach vibe so I am pretend packing for Comporta, Portugal and dreaming of it’s gorgeous beaches and insane seafood. I have never met a sunhat too big including this one. It is NOT packable, but my family would say it isn’t really a vacation if mom isn’t hauling a “big dumb hat”. Toes would be painted this gorgeous coral which would be great in these A. Emery sandals, these Birks, or the essential Havaianas (I prefer the male version). My “evening” shoes would be these fun red mesh sandals which would go with this Matteau dress or this Vita Kin. I always pack two sunnies- my trusted Wayfarers (matchy, matchy with the hubs) and one fun new pair. I’m mostly a one piece and pareo wearer, but if I do go bikini on family vacay, I like a big ole brief bottom to cover the “four baby tummy” with this breezy cover-up and these gold hoops. These PJs are so cute, I might even wear them to lunch at Restaurant Sal (like I said, relaxed vibe) over this pretty suit. For our convertible drive down the coast, I would wear this button down with these chunky beads and my trusty jorts. With a few more beachy dresses like this beauty from Agua by Agua Benita, I am ready for a week of fun in the sun with a stack of books piled in this Lola Hats tote. Sigh…

SKI
A carry-on for a 3-day ski trip is tough. There are too many chunky clothes and shoes and the need for options based on changing weather temps. Anxiety packing at it’s best. Anyway, the essentials for me to pack would be: a good pair of sneaks and boots plus the boots you’ll wear after skiing - I know that’s three, but that’s it, and you can wear the most challenging ones to pack on the plane. No other shoes are necessary. I would also pack a great pair of sunnies for après fun, jeans, a knit dress worn with boots, comfy lounge pants, one or two sweaters, and a crossbody bag you can cruise the town in (or even take skiing with you). Of course, you’d need your ski jacket and pants, and if you can squeeze it in a fab jacket to go out to dinner in, like this long one or this short one, is perfect! Sit on your bag and zip - you can make it all fit ;) and if you can’t - just go for the bigger bag.

We have skied a lot of fun spots as a family, but our “home” mountain in Crested Butte, CO thanks to friends who are like family and have hosted us on countless trips. I think it is a hidden gem: gorgeous mountains with amazing views, really great food, and a casual vibe. Packing for a ski trip is all about wearing a lot of clothes on the flight. My airplane ski uniform would be this over published, but can’t beat it coat, boots that I found in Copenhagen visiting Annie , a classic pair of jeans, a bulky sweater and scarf, and a hat all to save room in my carry-on. Ski clothes are an investment, but I HATE to be cold so high quality is key for warmth. I have worn this jacket and these pants for a solid decade and they still keep me warm. A good pair of sunnies is key for bright winter sun and a warm apres hat is a must when the helmet comes off. After exploring fun “watering holes” in CB like The Dogwood, we usually cook at home. This sweater vest is cozy, but also not too warm while we prep. I love the cowboy vibe of Crested Butte and this denim shirt is perfect for dinner in or out. We spend every apres afternoon in the hot tub so a classic black suit is a must. My skin is completely parched in the altitude and I swear by Uni. Inevitably, one child is sick with altitude or flu each year so I take my favorite tea and a deck of cards. For the late night games, I love these pjs or this caccoon cardigan with leggings. Ski vacations are pretty much make-up free with the exception of this mascara and this lip gloss. Although my kids call me “ a cat on a curtain” on the insane runs they force me to do, making this list makes me want to hit those very slopes tomorrow!

CITY
This bag is easier to pack. I like to have options, but ultimately, everything I pack will easily go with one another. I will pack two of my wardrobe staple tee-shirts, a few G.O.T’s (going out tops), my fave (my new go-to) jeans, a belt, a pair of boots (with the perfect kitten heels for city walking), sunnies, this skirt, maybe a few different jackets for length, warmth, and then maybe another for either a polished or embellished look. Then I’ll want a dress or two and some flats that go with any of these looks, plus some statement sneaks! Oh, and I can’t forget a handbag! (or two if I add a clutch.) Done!

Ooooh, I love a trip to a city. It is hard to name a favorite, but I am headed to NYC to celebrate Annie’s 21st in April so I am dreaming of packing for that. My plane uniform is jeans, t-shirt, blazer (of my dreams), and these loafers that my dad wore almost every day of my life and I have now adopted. I will round out my carry-on with a slip dress, a pair of walking boots and fun sneaks, a classic sweater, a wide leg pant and a slim pair, great sunnies, and a killer pair of heels for a fun night out at the Polo Bar. It might be chilly so I will add this fun Ganni coat. For simple accessories, I love this Celine ring and Frankie shop bag. I bought this adorable Saint James beret which I feel like could be great (or not!). I haven’t found the courage to wear it, but maybe I will by April. Voila- city ready with some essential room in bag to shop!
