In the Trenches
It seems that the one thing we must finish out spring with is a good trench (so the French girls say). Lucky for us, they are everywhere at all price points. Grab one for the windy end of spring.
With four graduations ahead, we are INDEED in the trenches. I got a text from a friend this morning talking about Mayhem. Why has it taken me forty-seven years to associate that word with May? Anyway, let’s ignore our scary to-do lists and shop trench coats. My mom had to wear one most days in college for modesty. It’s hard to believe that now (you should see what the kids wear these days:)! but, I bet the entire campus was so chic- all trench coats and penny loafers? Yes, please. My dad always wore one over a suit on chilly days and I thought he looked so handsome. Today, the French girls are covered in them along with their sneaks. We did a quick and easy edit of some favorites at all price points (it’s quite a range).
If you plan to keep it forever and then pass it down, maybe it’s the OG. Or maybe this Yves Saint Laurent that says, “If I’m not already your boss, I will be soon”. Celine can basically do no wrong. Chloe looks well, very Chloe (which I love). If this is a one season purchase, you have a lot of good options. This All Saints is a STEAL. As is this Frankie shop. Reformation has a great looking one, but it isn’t lined so probably only for warmer months. No one does “bang for the buck” like Uniqlo. KULE has two good options: short and long- both sporty and cute with their signature ribbon detail. Sézane might be my favorite of the bunch. Jenni Kayne is her usual California cool that you will likely keep for a long time. MaxMara is reversible which is sort of cool. Banana Republic seems to be having a moment including this. Of course, Zara has a good one in the mix as does H&M. The parachute poplin from Buck Mason seems good for summer travel as does this Ulla.
Steal or splurge, shop for it here and good luck in those trenches!

Jenny
